The Project: Badonkadonk Bobbles Scarf II: Electric Boogaloo AKA Bobbles On The Bullet Train
The Yarn: Andean Silk from KnitPicks in Pitch
The Needles: 3.5mm bamboo
Started: May 13 2005 - Restarted June 9 2005
Yes gentle readers, as indicated in my comments on my last post, I threw away my previous attempt (with the embarassingly stupid mistake). It just didn't seem worth it to struggle through the ripping process.
Last night I cast on once again for this wee scarf, which I'm planning to give to my wee sister. Once again, it will continue with the badonkadonk bobbles theme, but will be shorter and feature a keyhole for ease of wear.
Angela asked what I thought of the yarn from KnitPicks. The Andean Silk has a really elegant, drapey feel, but is a bit splitty. This can be frustrating, especially when you are trying to knit 3 together to make a bobble, and you are trying to nab a piece of yarn and pull it through, and instead it splits and you want to rip your hair out. Anyway... I think it will be beautiful for this scarf, but probably wouldn't recommend it for non-scarf or wrap projects.
After I bought the yarn I came across a really detailed review by Grumperina. From reading her opinions, I think the Elegance may have been another good choice for this project.
