The Project: scarf DUH lux - based on a scarf from a Knit Cafe book [isbn4-8347-2332-1]
The Yarn: Just over 4 balls double stranded Rowan Soft Lux in Sable purchased from Knit Happens online
The Needles: 8mm Clover Takumi
Started: January 19 2006
Finished: January 21 2006
The scarf DUH lux is a success. The length is bordering on Dr. Who territory, but I love it. I especially adore the yarn. The yardage is quite good. It only took 4 balls knit double stranded (plus a little bit of a 5th) to make this ridiculously long scarf with fringe. It will be wonderful to have such a soft, luxurious scarf to combat those horrible winter winds.
Happily, I also have enough left to make a hat. I'm a recent convert to the ways of Barbara Walker so decided to work it from the top down. Yeah, it will have the little sphincter at the top, but, I don't really mind that so much. Here's a shot from while I was still using DPNs. I've now switched to the circular needle, so things should go even more quickly from here on.

you could probably close up the little hole in the top with some yarn threaded through the stitches and cinched up. very nice scarf. looks warm!

Thanks! Yup, I'm going to tighten up the hole with the cast on end. It will still show a bit, but that's ok.

ahh see you should have gone for a figure 8 cast on, no holes

I knew you were going to say that Yahaira! I even almost linked to your sphincter-free hat post.

Very impressive! That scarf looks great! I love the look of that yarn. I'm going to go to my LYS to see if they have it, I really want to see it in person.
