As I mentioned, it was suffocatingly hot last weekend. I live in one of those apartments that features "old world charm" (meaning it lacks modern creature comforts like central air). There wasn't much one could do but sit still in the direct path of a fan.
I really felt like knitting, but was disgusted by the idea of handling my wool sweater. This cotton/acrylic yarn seemed the perfect thing. It's one of my favorite colors and a heavier gauge than anything else I am working on. The pattern had been calling to me since I picked up the magazine, so I hurriedly swatched and got started. My initial plans were to convert the pattern to knit it in the round, but I decided to leave it be to keep it more portable. Wrangling a whole sweater, sleeves and all, on the bus is just not that fun. I've also decided to knit it all in grey and leave off the embroidery.
The Gidget entertained me while I knitted away at the stockinette stitch back. It's a corny show, but I love it. Gidget, LaRue and the Great Kahuna were amusing companions.

It was definitely too hot in Chicago this weekend to think much about knitting! That cardigan is really cute!

the hello kitty stress test was great! apparently I am "serious type that is able to control my emotions" and a "playing with pet will help release tension"

hello kitty seems to think that i'm cheerful and don't stress easy :) the engrish in that test was pretty funny!
that top is going to be really cute. i'm sure the cotton/acrylic yarn is much better for this heat! the cotton fleece i'm using is pretty perfect as well.

I heart the jacket you are knitting. You will have to tell me all about it when you are done. I am looking for a cute little light jacket like that (for planes and central air).
Hope it is cooling down for you.

Lucky you for having such wonderful, hot weather - here it's been raining since ages, snowing on the mountains and I had to pull on the heating the past evenings! Yuck!
I absolutely love the jacket you're knitting, such a beautiful pattern - I'm looking forward to seeing more progress pics of it!
