This project has been on the needles for a few weeks, so I suppose it has aged enough for me to get around to posting it. It's another top-down raglan -- this time in cardigan form. I had seen a lovely knit jacket by bi la li and fell in love with its chunky ribbed collar. I decided to take it as inspiration and make my own version. The yarn is a yummy, dark chocolate-colored merino I purchased from Yahaira's shop using a Christmas gift certificate. Thank you Kim and André!
The project is going well, but I have to admit to being a bit intimidated by the finishing. I decided to do turned over button bands which, when finished, will be fastened with hook and eye tape. I'm not exactly a sewer, so that may be a bit of tricky business!
The Project: Poor Nameless Slob Cardigan

great links as always! i'm sure you'll do just fine with the button band/hook and eye sewing on the cardigan.

Thanks! I'm sure I can handle the sewing, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so don't want to mess up this cardi due to bad finishing.

as usual, i agree with wil wheaton. his blog is great and full of insight. do you read it? fantastic stuff.
the article on not being passionate about the company but about your work was dead on. if only THE MAN understood it.
and those eye pillows aren't creepy! i actually have the little dog :) they're so great for when you have a headache. you can throw them in the freezer or the microwave and they smell really good. plus, they look cute just hanging out on the sofa. i highly recommend them.
i love the top down cardi! making your own sweater via your own pattern is just so fulfilling!

I'll have to get my sister one of those eye pillows. Oh wait, she already has a real animal that sleeps on her face!

Love that yummy brown yarn! It's going to look great.
I am afraid of finishing as well because it could turn a carefully knitted object into something ugly. Sewing is my fear.
